SCRAS Farmers Join the Bolgatanga Farmers Seed Fair 2026

On Saturday, 16th May, the GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga became a powerful hub for dialogue, learning, and exchange as thousands of smallholder farmers and key stakeholders across Ghana convened for the Bolgatanga Farmers Seed Fair 2026. Seeds that have travelled through generations.

NABOCADO through our SCRAS Project funded by Misereor joined Trax Ghana and the Beela Project to celebrate indigenous seeds, food sovereignty, and sustainable farming practices., and our farmers from the Project communities came with pride and purpose. They stood behind their display tables like custodians of heritage, telling how local innovation has helped them store seeds safely, revive rare varieties, and keep climate-resilient crops alive.

You could see the excitement as farmers exchanged seeds, compared techniques, and learned from one another. Traditional leaders, Agric institutions, and local authorities all joined to witness a movement that is growing stronger: A movement to protect our indigenous seeds, honour the knowledge around them, and safeguard food systems for the future.
