Credentials & Accountability

NABOCADO is a faith-based, nationally registered Ghanaian civil society organisation. We work under the mandate of the Catholic Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga and have run programmes without a break since 1981. Our systems have been checked by a third party against international donor standards. The details are below.

Registration

  • Registrar General of Ghana: registered, CG018372018 (2018)
  • Non-profit organisation licence: NPOS/UE11/LN01347/24
  • UN Global Marketplace (UNGM): registered, #3111
  • UNHCR Partner Portal: active partner
  • Caritas Internationalis: part of the Caritas Internationalis family

NABOCADO was founded in 1981 and for many years worked under the National Catholic Secretariat’s registration. It registered in its own right in 2018, as donors required.

Governance

NABOCADO is governed by a Board of Directors under oversight appointed by the Bishop of Navrongo-Bolgatanga. A management team led by the Executive Director runs our day-to-day work. Meet the Board of Directors and the Leadership Team.

Independently verified systems

NABOCADO has graduated from Catholic Relief Services’ EMPOWER institutional strengthening programme, which covered areas including financial management, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), monitoring and evaluation, procurement, emergency response and safeguarding. This pre-answers the organisational capacity assessments used by UNICEF (HACT), GIZ, the EU and UNHCR.

We meet the humanitarian minimum standards of UNICEF, UNHCR and WFP, and our procurement follows UN and international donor standards.
