Why partner with NABOCADO

A network already in place

The diocese’s parishes and rectorates give us catechists and community volunteers who already live in the communities we serve, including remote border villages and conflict-affected areas. Because they are already there, mobilising them comes at zero marginal cost. No INGO can replicate this within a grant cycle.

Trusted by Church and traditional leaders

We work under the mandate of the Catholic Bishop of Navrongo-Bolgatanga and have documented relationships with traditional rulers and chiefs. In northern Ghana these endorsements decide whether an organisation can enter a community. They matter most for work on gender-based violence, child protection and violent extremism.

In the same communities since 1981

We have worked in the same area through droughts, conflicts, political change and shifting donor priorities. Our relationships with District Assemblies, the Ghana Health Service, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and community leaders take decades to build, not one grant cycle.

Systems verified by a third party

Our financial management, safeguarding, MEAL, procurement and emergency response systems were strengthened and verified through CRS’s EMPOWER programme.

Development and emergency response together

We run long-term agriculture, health and education programmes and emergency response in the same communities, from the Tarikom refugee reception centre to the Bawku and Kandiga-Doba conflicts. Our programmes are linked by design: WASH with nutrition and maternal health, livelihoods with peacebuilding, and education with child protection.

A proven approach to peacebuilding

NABOCADO is the only locally rooted organisation in northern Ghana with a structured, field-tested Non-Violent Approach to Peacebuilding. It works at community, institutional and cross-border levels at the same time, and its results last beyond the end of a project.

NABOCADO is ready to work as an implementing partner or sub-grantee on bilateral and international donor-funded programmes in health, livelihoods, peacebuilding, protection and education. Our long track record, third-party verified systems and unmatched community reach make us the partner of choice in Ghana.
