CHILD Project Marks WASH Week with Hygiene Outreach in Nabdam

June 26, 2026  ·  Health

As part of this year's WASH Week commemoration, NABOCADO's Health Programmes Directorate through the CHILD Project brought together over 50 mothers, caregivers and pregnant women from Nangode, Kalin, Nakpalig, Zoya and Yakoti in the Nabdam District of the Upper East region for a community outreach on hygiene and sanitation.
Facilitated by the District Public Health Nurse Naomi Abayaa, the interactive sessions covered personal hygiene, proper handwashing, environmental sanitation and household hygiene practices that help prevent common childhood illnesses.
NABOCADO's Health Programs Coordinator, Mr. Tule Sebastian, underscored the vital link between WASH practices and the reduction of pneumonia, malaria, diarrhea and malnutrition among children under five, which are core priorities of the Collaborative Child-health Initiative for Life-saving and Development (CHILD) Project, currently being implemented across refugee-host communities in Bawku West, Binduri and Nabdam districts with funding from Kindermissionswerk Die Sternsinger.

At NABOCADO, we believe lasting change begins with informed communities.
