NABOCADO’s Health Programmes Directorate has completed community entry activities for the rollout of the Child Health Initiative for Life-saving and Development (CHILD) Project in 7 Burkinabe refugee host communities across the Bawku West, Binduri and Nabdam Districts of Upper East Region.

The communities include Sapeliga- Kaare, Sapeliga-Bugla, Nangodi- Kalin, Widnaba, Kansogo, Yarigungu
and Gentiga.

The entry phase engaged traditional authorities, Burkinabe Refugees, community volunteers, health professionals, and district leaders to introduce the project, align expectations, and establish collaborative frameworks for effective implementation.

The CHILD Project funded by Kindermissionswerk Die Sternsinger of Germany is designed to reduce childhood illnesses- including pneumonia, diarrhea, anemia, and malaria- among children under five.

Over the next three years, the project will:

  • Equip 500 women and caregivers with the skills to manage childhood illnesses at home using IMCI practices.
  • Support 500 households to grow and consume green vegetables all year round to improve child nutrition.
  • Strengthen six health facilities to deliver better child healthcare services.

This warm reception from all communities marks a strong foundation for impactful implementation. Together, we look forward to a healthier future for every child.
