With a few days to the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Ghana, the Good Governance, Justice and Peace Directorate of NABOCADO on Monday held a significant dialogue session with political parties in the Upper East Region under the Integrated Peacebuilding for Improved Food and Nutrition Supply (INPEACE) project, funded by Misereor.
The event, which forms part of planned activities by the Interfaith Advocacy Network and the Regional Stakeholders Forum to promote peace, brought together regional party leaders, executives and parliamentary candidates alongside key stakeholders to discuss and promote a tolerant environment among election stakeholders for a peaceful poll.
The theme, “Bonding Together for a Peaceful Election 2024,” emphasised collaboration and idea-sharing to foster peace before, during and after the elections.
According to participants, the dialogue session is crucial for maintaining Ghana's democratic legacy and ensuring a harmonious electoral process, especially in the Upper East Region.
The session encouraged candidates to express their commitment to peace and collaboration leading up to the elections. The political parties also shared their views on the importance of dialogue in fostering a peaceful electoral environment and outlined their strategies for engaging with constituents to promote unity and stability during the election period.
