In recent times, the Sahel region of West Africa has experienced growing insecurity caused by increased violence and extremism that have forced millions out of their homes.
The threat of these developments cannot be underestimated, as they have significant effects on livelihoods and human survival, especially for women, children and youth.
The Good Governance, Justice and Peace Directorate of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocesan Development Organisation, NABOCADO, carried out a one-day training workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution for members of the Justice and Peace Committees from deaneries across the Diocese.
The training comes under activities of the Sahel Peace Initiative, a programme launched in 2022 by the Catholic Church in Ghana aimed at minimising the threat of violence and extremism in the northern belt of Ghana.
We are grateful to our funding and implementing partners, the Center for Conflict Transformation and Peace Studies (CECOTAPS) and the National Catholic Secretariat, for funding the training and coordinating the SPI 2.0 events respectively.
