In the quiet community of Sirigu, in the Kassena-Nankana West District, there is a place where life is given another chance. The Mother of Mercy Babies Home, established by the Catholic Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga, exists for one purpose—to protect, nurture, and restore hope to the most vulnerable children under the age of three.
These are children who, through no fault of their own, begin life in the most fragile circumstances. Some are orphaned. Others are abandoned. Many are born to mothers who, due to severe hardship or mental health challenges, are unable to care for them. Without intervention, their chances of survival and healthy development are dangerously limited.
At the Mother of Mercy Babies Home, every child is received with compassion and dignity. Here, they are not defined by their circumstances—they are embraced with love, given proper nutrition, access to healthcare, and the warmth of consistent caregiving. In these early, critical years, the Home becomes their safe haven—a place where they can grow, heal, and begin again.
Since its establishment, the Home has cared for over 350 babies, each with a story of survival and resilience. As they grow stronger, many are successfully transitioned to the Center for Child Development, where they continue their journey toward a stable and hopeful future.
But this life-saving work cannot continue without support.
The Home relies largely on the generosity of individuals, faith-based groups, organizations, and the Church. Every meal, every medical check, every clean bed, and every moment of care is made possible through the kindness of people who choose to act.
